Setting up Lighthaven
Everything you need to install, configure, and launch the Lighthaven theme on your Shopify store.
Installation
Lighthaven can be installed on any Shopify store in a few minutes.
From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
Click Add theme → Upload zip file and select the Lighthaven theme file you received.
Once uploaded, find Lighthaven in your theme library and click Actions → Publish to make it your live theme, or Customize to preview and configure it first.
Once Lighthaven is listed on the Shopify Theme Store, you'll also be able to add it directly from your Shopify admin without a manual upload.
First-time setup checklist
Before launching, walk through these basics in the theme editor:
- Upload your logo and set a favicon under Theme settings → Logo.
- Set your brand colors and champagne/accent tones under Theme settings → Colors.
- Choose your heading and body typefaces under Theme settings → Typography.
- Build your homepage by adding, removing, and reordering sections in the customizer.
- Set up your main menu and footer menu under Navigation.
- Add at least one collection with products so sections have content to preview.
Homepage sections
Lighthaven's homepage is built from modular sections you can add, remove, and reorder freely from the theme editor:
- Hero — full-bleed image or video with a headline and call-to-action button.
- Featured collection — a curated grid of products from a chosen collection.
- Editorial banner — a full-width image and text block for storytelling or campaigns.
- Testimonials — quotes or press mentions in an editorial serif layout.
- Lookbook gallery — a shoppable image grid linking directly to products.
- Newsletter — an email capture block, styled to match the rest of the theme.
Product pages
The product page is designed to keep photography large while surfacing what shoppers need to decide quickly.
- Add multiple product images — Lighthaven displays them in a scrollable, zoomable gallery.
- Use Shopify's native Variants for size and color; color options can display as swatches.
- Add a size chart via a linked page or metafield, shown in a slide-out panel on the product page.
- Enable Quick shop from collection grids so shoppers can add to cart without opening the full product page.
Collections & filtering
Collection pages support Shopify's native filtering (search & discovery) for size, color, price, and any custom product tags or metafields you use.
- Enable filters under Search & Discovery in your Shopify admin — Lighthaven picks these up automatically.
- Set a collection banner image and description from each collection's settings.
- Choose grid density (2–4 columns) and sort order from the collection section settings in the theme editor.
Typography & colors
All of Lighthaven's visual identity — the editorial serif headings, body typeface, ivory background, and champagne-gold accents — is controlled from Theme settings, with no code required.
- Swap heading and body fonts from Shopify's built-in font picker.
- Adjust background, text, and accent colors independently for light and dark sections.
- Save color and type combinations as presets to reuse across sections.
Performance tips
- Upload images already sized close to their display size — Lighthaven lazy-loads and serves responsive sizes automatically, but very large originals still cost bandwidth.
- Keep third-party apps that inject scripts to a minimum; each one adds load time.
- Use Shopify's built-in video hosting rather than large embedded background videos where possible.
Troubleshooting
A section isn't showing on the homepage. Confirm it's enabled and not hidden in the theme editor's section list, and that it has the content it needs (e.g. a collection with products assigned).
Colors or fonts look unchanged after saving. Clear your browser cache or open the storefront in a private window — theme editor previews can be cached.
Filters aren't appearing on a collection. Filters are powered by Shopify's Search & Discovery app; confirm it's installed and filters are enabled for that collection.
